We just returned from a week long family vacation to Saint George with Adam's Family. It was so much fun. Most of the family spent a full day at the Narrows in Zion National Park, and the adults hiked Angel's landing another day. I did not go this time- I helped watch the little nieces and nephews that are too little. But they had a blast. I love Zion and I am glad Adam got a chance to hike Angel's Landing because we did not do that last year. Anyway... Let's see. We also went swimming a lot at the pool- I spent most of my swim time in the kiddie pool. It was really warm because it was so shallow- but cool compared to the 100 degree weather. My kind of pool! My brother in law called it my "pregnant lady hot tub" It was wonderful. Every night after all the nieces and nephews were in bed we played games, talked, did karaoke, etc. It was so fun. I of course fell asleep hours before everyone else. I am such a party pooper.
The card reader is still broken. BUT I found a print out of a new-year letter I meant to send out last year which obviously I never did. I don't think I emailed it either- but who knows. I think I started it right before I got really sick so I am pretty sure the pictures are all I did. All of these pictures are from adventures of LAST year. But seeing as how until recently our blog was a once a year attraction, I figure some pictures to back up some of the text is good-right?

Well- I will add more later. I have been working really hard on my two baby quilts and they are almost finished. I think they are SOOOO cute. I haven't taken pictures yet- but as soon as they are done I will. More to come later. I am off to replenish our empty fridge. What we didn't eat or take with us to Saint George we chucked before we left- it wouldn't have lasted anyway (and let's be honest I needed to go shopping then too so there wasn't that much). Now our fridge is quite empty and my tummy is rumbling. Perfect motivation. Good Bye!

Our Babies are...

Sorry for the delay...
Baby A who is on the bottom is a BOY!!! (and very active may I add- even the doctor agreed with me :) His name will likely end up being Bryant Adam Perkins. Although we reserve the right to change it when we meet him.
Baby B who is on top of brother is a GIRL!! Her name will likely be Caitlyn Elizabeth Perkins- reserving the same right as before.
I think it is kind of funny. Since we were engaged, Adam and I would debate about which is better to have first- boy or girl. We never could come to an agreement :) So I guess this way we both win! we are so excited to have one of each. It will be sooooo fun.
Both babies are very healthy and active and SOOOO cute. Of course I am a biased mom, and yes I do realize that I have only seen them via cross-sectional ultrasound pictures. But they are really cute. Both babies are transverse, which means they lie sideways in my uterus. Boy will be born first, regardless of the manner of delivery. Even if they don't turn or if there is an emergency need for a c-section, the doctors will take the lower baby first. ( I guess Adam wins, the boy comes first and will be the "oldest").
They seem to have a similar sleep schedule as me- most of the time. There have been several mornings at 4 am where I started wondering if there was a fight going on or something. I told them that it was 4:00 AM and their mom was tired- go back to bed. They didn't really listen. But for the most part they are calm at night... for now I guess. I sometimes just laugh while wondering what the heck they are trying to do in there- but then when you see one of the pictures of our boy below and how cramped he is I guess that explains it. I would be moving all over the place to try and get comfortable too.

So- for some pictures... They gave us a few pictures but to my dismay, when I got home I realized none of them show the anatomical indicators of their gender. We have it on the video, but that is not the same. I think it is AWESOME and super fascinating, but probably 99% of the population would look at someone else's ultrasound and be like- wow, BORING. So, don't worry, I won't post that. Some of you have asked to see pictures of me and my tummy- we have some, and if the card reader will work today then I will post those too. I make no promises yet though...

Well for crying out loud. Our computer is not recognizing the pictures on the cd. It worked fine on my mom's computer. Grr. I think our computer hates our blog. No worries, I have hard copies I will scan hang-on.Ok- so there is probably a more organized way to do this, but this is the only way I know how to do this.
Left column going down: top: baby girl's foot. Middle: Baby girl's face. The triangle thing on the top is her nose, and the dark spot next to it is her right eye. Bottom: hehe, one of my favorites. This is where the doctor was trying to count her fingers. She put her hand under her chin before he could check her thumb. He started poking her saying "hey, get that back out here, we want to look at your thumb." So she pulled her hand out and gave us a thumbs-up. Dr. Lamoreaux thought it was really cute (of course I did too) and so he took the picture.
Right column going down: Top: baby boy's footprint- I think it is SOOOOO cute!! Bottom: the poor guy is smooshed in there. This is his profile and you can see all of him. His head is on the left then you can see his spine curl around, his bum is up in the air and he is kissing his knees and legs. So, like I said, who can blame the little kid-o for trying to get more comfortable?

More pictures will have to wait until we can get our computer savvy brother in law to help us with the card-reader. Sorry. Hope you enjoy, and I promise that it won't take me so long to blog as much now. Can I just say that I LOVE not working!!! As soon as I get our laundry under control I get to start doing two baby quilts. I have had the material since April when I saw my sister's quilt for her baby. It was on sale so I bought all the stuff- enough to make two quilts with just enough blue and pink for two of each if necessary. But the genders would determine how much of each color to cut. I also had to finish teaching, and there was a TON to do. It is busy enough to finish up a year of teaching and get ready for the summer. Even more work to empty your room of all the stuff you have personally put into it over the last two years. It is all stashed in boxes in our garage right now. That will be a project for later. I feel like I have been pushing back my enthusiasm to do baby stuff until I am done teaching so now that I am I am at it full reins!! Anyway, as the quilts make progress and as the card reader gets fixed, and as life happens in general I promise I will keep you all updated!! Yay for me.

Boys? Girls? or Both?

Hello everyone! This is Adam. Tonight is going to be a short one, and unfortunately, it will be without any pictures or videos. I was going to post some pictures, but the card reader on my computer is not working and I cannot find out why. The video I wanted to post is on my external hard drive that accidentally got knocked off the table and doesn't want to work anymore. So, you are stuck with boring 'ol' text.

Tomorrow is one of the "big days" for the pregnancy. Catherine is 20.5 weeks with our twins, and tomorrow is the appointment where we find out the genders. Catherine is nervous that they will try to maintain privacy and not let us get a good look, but I am confident we'll find out. Guesses anyone? Anyone? Catherine and I think it will be a girl AND a boy. We don't know why we feel that, but we have felt that for awhile. Whether it's intuition, or wild guessing, who knows.

IF it's not a boy and a girl, then we think it is two boys. Neither of us have ever thought of having two girls, but would be absolutely delighted to be surprised! Getting ready for these little ones has been fun and expensive! ;-) Buying for two makes us look forward to having just one sometime in the future. Catherine is great at finding good deals though. She got a TON of baby clothes at a giant garage sale for $30. BYU students donate the clothes, and we hit the jackpot! As we speak, Catherine is finishing up on a set of 2 baby pajamas she sewed with a little hood, mittens, and covered feet attached. She is so excited about them, I am sure you will see them on the blog soon.

Well, this post is turning out to be longer than expected. We are SO excited to have these little ones coming into our lives. It has been a long time in waiting, and the time has finally come. Thank you all for your prayers and support.

I guess I will post a picture. We've been lucky enough to have a few ultrasounds BEFORE the one we'll get tomorrow. They were too small to notice the gender then, but awesome pictures nonetheless.
The picture on the left is looking at both babies and the sack lining can be seen separating them.
The top-right picture is "Baby A." If you look carefully, you can see the left arm at the top being bent, and the hand is behind the head (like in a relaxed reclining position). The baby's head is on the left, and the body is on the right. It was mimicking it's mom (whose left arm was behind her head at the time of the ultrasound). Looks like I'm in trouble. Hopefully the other is like dad.

The bottom-right picture is "Baby B." This picture can also be a little difficult to decipher. At the very top left hand side, you can see the baby's profile looking upward. You can see a little nose, lips, and chin. To use an extremely overused word... "Cute."
